Site Surveying

This is a practical module that involves 2 major field works. It is also counted as two assignments in this modules which are Levelling and Traversing.From this field works, I have learnt about what site surveying is and the basics of carrying out field works.It is a great experience for us to explore the instruments and we can do the field work by ourselves. Besides that, we also have a mid-term that test us from topic 1-topic 3.

Levelling is done with an auto-level. This activity functions mainly to calculate the reduce levels of the site. We did the field work and worked out a report.Next is Traversing. It is significantly more difficult to accomplish as it utilises a Theodolite instead of an auto-level. Setting up take more effort as it requires more precision. In our field work we aim to calculate the distances between points by using the stadia readings taken.

Reflection:In the conclusion,besides learning the theory of site surveying,we also got the opportunity to go hands-on with the various instruments involved, and used them to collect our own readings and prepare a report. I am sure these practical knowledge will be beneficial to us in the industry.
